Beat Bugs: children’s animation that adults love too!

Beat Bugs, from Netflix.

All you need is love!

If you watch Netflix and like animation, you got check Beat Bugs out. Even though it was launched in 2016, I discovered it a few days ago, and my 3 year old son and I are very delighted! They are five friendly insects who learn different lessons about the world in their garden. The stories are set to Beatles songs, reinterpreted by artists such as Pink, Sia, Eddie Vedder, Daniel Johns, Rod Stewart, Chris Cornell, Jennifer Hudson, The Shins, among other famous people.

The three years of conversations between the creator and director of the series, the Australian Josh Wakely, and Sony/ATV, which holds the rights to the Beatles’ songs, until they reached a “yes” were worth it, as the result was sensational! Production is by A Storytelling Company and Thunderbird Entertainment, and animation is by Atomic Cartoons.

Awards

This serie had two seasons, a special episode in November 2017, and I have no news about renewal. But to give you an idea of success, Beat Bugs won awards for Best Children’s TV series in 2016, by the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts, and for Best Soundtrack for a television series (below 30 minutes long), by the Australian Screen Sound Guild 2017, plus an Emmy Awards in 2017.
